The Nigerian Tribune learnt that the Fulani herders  attacked Tse-Wuaswem in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State around 10.30 pm and ransacked the village.

It was gathered that the suspected Fulani herdsmen, armed with cutlasses, knives and other dangerous items, attacked the village at the time the villagers had gone to sleep.

The  sole administrator of the council area,  Mr. Joseph Akpera, said the suspected herders attacked the village, but said one person was killed while three others were seriously injured.

Also speaking on the incident, the state police spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu, said the council chairman reported the killing of one person in the night attack.

Akpera said the incident occurred around 9.00 p.m. on Sunday, in Saav district while the people were asleep.

“There was no provocation. They just came in, matcheted persons  and ran away.  Before then, there had been high influx of cattle in the area.

He further said  that six herdsmen had been arrested in connection with the attack, adding, ‘the case is under investigation’.
