21 suspected internet fraudsters arrested in Umuahia

Operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 21 suspected internet fraudsters in an early morning sting operation in Umuahia, Abia State.

The suspects were identified as Orji John Chika, Stanley Chukwkreka, Torti Nnanna; Chukwuebuka Onwuegbu, Anyanwu Emmanuel Gideon, Obioma David, Inadinma Daniel, Ohakwe Joseph, Oburu Emmanuel, Justin Ashiesbu Chinedu and Godwin Onyekwere.

Others are Clarenth Chieindu, Ibe Ezewa, Prosper Chimezie, Obinna Iromachi, Anslem Nnamdi, Reality Ezekiel, John Ottah, Prince Chinemerem, Chidozie Obioma and Anderson Nnamdi.

According to the EFCC Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement, on Thursday, the suspects “were arrested without any incident, based on diligent surveillance and verified intelligence on their suspicious internet-related criminal activities.”

Items recovered from them included Lexus RX 350 Sports Utility Vehicle, three Lexus ES 300 cars, a Toyota Camry car, 50 phones of different brands, eight HP laptops, a Dell laptop, 15 Airtel SIM cards, an international passport, a Ford car key, a Samsung wristwatch, a headphone and a printer.

It was learnt that they would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigations.
