Normal business activities inside and around the National Assembly complex have been grounded ahead of the presentation of the 2022 appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was observed the Security Forces comprising Military and Para-military personnel have since on Wednesday morning taken over strategic areas in and outside the Assembly premises while workers and other visitors without have been advised to keep the area except for those on essential duties and duly accredited by the office of the Clerk of the National Assembly
The President had arrived at the Complex around 12:05 pm and he is currently presenting the 2022 budget to the Lawmakers at the House of Representatives Chamber for consideration
It was observed that Banks, eateries, and other offices in the complex were shut and workers were advised to stay off because of the annual ritual because of the unending insecurity in the country.
As at the time of this report, security is generally water-tight as the entire Three Arms Zone housing the National Assembly, the Presidential Villa, Also Rock, the Supreme Court, Federal Secretariat, and the popular Eagle Square were totally locked down to human and vehicular movements.
