2021 LAIF Awards: Glo audio-visual productions dominate Telecoms sector prizes

Creative television commercials and radio jingles produced by Globacom in 2021 have been celebrated at the 2021 Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival where they hauled 10 medals, including 5 silver and 5 bronze respectively.

The award ceremony which celebrates creative excellence was held at Landmark Event Centre in Lagos last week, where Globacom was honoured for Creative Television Commercials, Press Advertisements, Outdoor and best use of Digital and Social Media Content.

Globacom won two silvers medals in the Press Craft Original Photography award which celebrates the quality of photograph used in the press advertisement and in Telecom Product Services Award. Its Children’s Day Press Advertisement won the medal in the two categories

The company also won two silver medals through its Roaming Advertisement in Press LAIF Telecom Product and Services as well as Outdoor LAIF Telecom Product and Services.

Globacom’s Biker Mechanic, where the power of Glo 4G LTE was demonstrated in television the commercial by comedian, Kelechi Udegbe, and actress Eriata Ese won two bronze medals in Film LAIF Telecom Product and Services and in Digital and Mobile LAIF Telecom Product and Services awards. The company also picked another bronze medal in Outdoor LAIF Telecom Product and Services category, with Feed Your Eyes.

The Globacom commercial Find Your First Jay Jay, another medium where the power of Glo 4G was showcased also won silver and bronze medals.  A young boy, after many attempts was able to connect his father’s hero, Jay Jay Okocha, using the power of Glo 4G to invite him as a surprise guest at his dad’s birthday celebration. The commercial bagged silver and bronze medals in LAIF Telecom Product and Services category and in the Film Craft Best Use of Digital and Social Media Content categories respectively.

President, Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Steve Babaeko, stated at the occasion that LAIF Awards is the biggest award platform in the nations advertising industry, adding that it recognizes and rewards creativity in Nigeria.

Lanre Adisa, the Chairman of LAIF Awards Management Board, stated that the 2021 edition of the awards received over 350 entries from a total of 21 Agencies.

And the awards continued recently in South Africa where Globacom also received Loeries Craft Certificate, a Giant Film for cinematography . The award was won by Glo Commercial, ‘Street Football”, featuring many young footballers who picked a ball from a location and dribbled through many locations, before ending up at the stadium. There they met their football hero, Nigerian international striker who currently plays for Al Shabab of Saudi Arabia, Odion Ighalo who appeared on the screen beaming with smiles while the youngsters who were too excited to see him all giggled and smiled in excitement.
