AN All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Nnewi North/Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Anambra State in the February 16, 2019, election, Engr Jude Kingsley Onyeka has said that the Igbo would have a lot to gain, if they could vote APC all through especially for presidential and National Assembly in the five States of the South East to be part of the majority and have more voice and avoid mistakes of the past.
Engr Onyeka made the comments, yesterday while addressing journalists at his campaign office, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area on the difference he would make when elected to represent the area in the House of Representatives.
In his analogy, Onyeka noted that an APC president with a majority of the APC lawmakers in the National Assembly from the South East geo-political zone like other geopolitical zones would give the Igbo a strong bargaining power in national politics “and that would lay to rest all complaints of not having enough from the federal government. This means a lot to the Igbo.”
He said that the APC from every indication would take the lead nationwide in the forthcoming elections and that it would be a wrong calculation if the Igbo could not avail themselves of the opportunity offered by the party to be part of the ”envisaged” majority in the National Assembly.

“Ndigbo stand to gain by supporting the APC in the upcoming elections. When you have a President who is an APC man and lawmakers of Igbo extraction who are members of the APC, for us, there will be that synergy and co-operation. And that will mean we will have a stronger voice to speak for the Igbo. Our voice will be our strength. That will give us a better opportunity to demand and receive more infrastructural development and other democracy dividends with ease,” Engr Onyeka said.
On the difference he would make in his constituency if elected, he said he was going there for quality representation to attract quality projects, engage the youths more deeply and extensively.
Onyeka said that proper attention would be given to infant and maternal health including the aged, an area he said many representatives from the constituency past and present had not given adequate attention it deserved.
He noted that though the current lawmaker representing the Federal Constituency had tried in attracting some federal projects that it would triple if he is elected since he would be part of the majority in the National Assembly.
He said he would be so much involved in sponsorship of Bills and all aspects of lawmaking process “not to be in the House as a bench warmer.” He noted that the constituency had not had a representative who was outspoken in the House over the years, a vacuum he assured he would go there to close which he said would subsequently attract more government attention to the Federal Constituency.
