This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Engineer Daniel Shawulu on Tuesday saying that the Selection Examination will be Conducted to ensure that the best hands were selected for the exercise.
Daniel Shawulu who briefed the Press on the level of preparation for the conduct of the 2018 Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem from Bauchi state expressed the determination of his Board to ensure a hitch-free but a rewarding Holy pilgrimage.
He also said that the selection examination for medical Doctors and Nurses that will constitute the medical team to Israel this year was necessary in order to have merit personnel as well as reduced perceived bias in the selection process.
The BCPWB Secretary added that “the examination will be conducted through Computer-Based Test (CBT) by all the candidates who registered through our websites. The selection was an improvement based on merit, rather than bias of selection process of the medical team.”
According to him, “we want to change the system, instead of somebody sitting down in his house and making a list of people to represent the medical team, We felt that merit should take the forefront in the selection process.”
Daniel Shawulu assured that “There is no Godfatherism here and that is what we are advocating for, that everything should be based on merit. The doctors will pay a bit more than the nurses, the doctors will pay N7000 and nurses will pay N5000 for registration.”
The Executive Secretary further said that registration of intending pilgrims has since stated with the registration fee of N180, 000 exclusives of Basic Travelling Allowances (BTA) and Administrative charges warning however that this year’s pilgrimage is strictly spiritually inclined and not for merchandise or pleasure.
“This year’s pilgrimage is not for pleasure, tourism, merchandise or gateway for you to leave the country. Pilgrims should be there to perform spiritual activities such as prayers for the nation’s peace and stability, unity prospects and pray for yourself and the family,” he said.
Daniel Shawulu then assured that arrangements will be concluded before the end of this month in order for the pilgrims to be airlifted according to the schedule of National Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC).
