Olaniyi, who is an estate consultant by profession, gave this assurance in a statement he made available to the Nigerian Tribune at the weekend, even as he decried the current high level of crimes and criminality in the state due to poverty and non-availability of jobs, unlike in yesteryears.
According to him, the problem is also caused by what he termed as “different orientations” of those in the leadership position, in particular, a development he said had not properly positioned them to address the menace.
“My dream assignment in Osun State is to restore love, peaceful coexistence, homeliness, economic self-sufficiency and make the state indigenes and residents live as one family immediately I take over the mantle of leadership as the next governor,” the APC governorship aspirant said.
Olaniyi, while recalling that in the past, Osun people were known to be peace-loving, hospitable, godly, among others, lamented that some people with poor orientation gained from having lived outside the state for long before coming back home to settle had watched helplessly to see the state turn to where cases of thuggery, political clashes killings, kidnapping for money rituals and demand for ransom, communal clashes and disputes, among others have become order of the day.
“Osun State people have even been peaceful people who love one another dearly. As an evidence, you would really come by a true indigene of Osun State arrest one another with police. Many decades past, police stations remained actively dormant without activities due to non-report of cases or vicious acts,” he reiterated.
“I observe that majority of the troublemakers are jobless and idle hands,” he added.
The APC governorship aspirant, while promising to bring back sanity in that state, said he would seek the backing and wisdom of God, once elected into office later this year, “to eradicate the ugly situation and make the people live together as one and affectionate family as it had been in decades past.”
