It was gathered that the accident involved an Opel Vectra commercial vehicle with registration number AE 587XA and trailer truck with registration number BMA 956 DPK that were heading in opposite directions.
The accident according to the FRSC account occurred when the Opel Vectra lost control and collided with the trailer at the military checkpoint.
The Bauchi Sector Head of Operations, Paul Gua confirmed the accident, saying that the incident happened on the 3rd of January 2018, around 11:50 pm.
According to Paul Gua, 7 persons were inside the Opel Vectra, out of whom two persons died instantly as a result of the impact of the collision.

He explained that the Vectra which was coming from Jos to Bauchi lost control and veered off the road, colliding with the trailer while trying to manoeuver its way out of the military checkpoint.
Paul Gua said, “The corpses of the victims had been deposited at the mortuary in the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital in Bauchi while the survivors are also receiving treatment.
“The driver of the Vectra and one passenger in the back seat died instantly. The accident would have been avoided if only the driver waited for the trailer which was coming out of the checkpoint to pass through, but he ran into the trailer when it was not his turn to pass” he said
