2 kids of the same parent kidnapped in Anambra

TWO children of the same parents kidnapped by unknown persons last Tuesday at Igwedumma Nursery and Primary school Amawbia Awka South LGA of Anambra State are yet to be found.

The kids, Kamsiyo and Chidera Chukwu, two and four years old respectively, said to be in Nursery one and two respectively, were kidnapped after school on Tuesday 3rd July 2018.

The Head Teacher of the School, Mrs Anene Stella, said she was informed of the abduction by one of her teachers as she was away when the incident happened.

“I was at St Mary’s Catholic Church Awka to attend a meeting at about 4 pm when I received a call from one of my teachers that they are looking for the two children.

“She said the mother also came and joined in searching for the children but could not find them anywhere.

“So I had to rush to the school immediately to confirm and when I got to the school I meet the mother and other teachers astonished and confused,” she said.

Anene said she immediately put a call to the Education Secretary of the local government on the development who quickly directed her to report to the police.

“When I got to the Police Station, I was told that two men have come and lodged the report. The Police took my number and ask me to come back the next day”.

The mother of the victims, Mrs Rosemary Chinyere Ezekwere, who said she was relatively new in the town after gaining employment with the State Internal Revenue Service, said she was yet to come to terms with the ugly incident.

“When I came to register the children, I approached the headteacher of the school and told her that I am alone here in Amawbia because my husband lives in the village where he does his business and I was newly employed.

“I pleaded with her to ask one of the teachers to assist me to look after the children after their dismissal, assuring her that I would try not to keep them for too long.

“She suggested that I should go and meet the nursery 2A teacher who accepted after explaining my predicament to her, she added.

Ezekwere, however, said the teacher was faithful to her promise until the fateful day the incident took place.

She continued, “But that fateful day, I came to the school at 2 pm prompt, but when I entered their class none of the teachers was seen as usual in any of the classes. I could also not see my children, I
only saw their bags and their launch box.

“I opened their lunch box and the food they carried to school was also intact. I saw other children that I use to meet in their class each time I came to collect them.

“But when I asked them if they saw my children, they said no. I rushed out to see if they are outside playing with some of the children, but I saw others playing but they were not there.”

According to her, the teacher she handed over the kids who came in while she was searching for the kids, could not believe her eyes when it became obvious that they were nowhere to be found.

Ezekwere, however, said she later informed the husband who had since reported the matter to the police, as well as engaged the town crier who announced it within the community.

The father of the missing kids, who expressed disappointment that nobody had been arrested since the incident happened, appealed to the public to assist them in searching for the children
