TWO men, Omatta Umeigbo, 33, and Chigozirim Aja-Onu, 34, were on Monday arraigned in Lagos over alleged 600,000 visa fraud.
The defendants appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on a three-count charge of obtaining under false pretences, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and stealing.
They, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione had told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometime in April, at No. 2, Babatunde Dalley Close, Surulere, Lagos.

The prosecutor said that the defendants obtained the sum from the complainant, Mr Onyeka Nwachineke, on the pretext that he would secure a United Arab Emirate’s Visa and a flight ticket for him.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 168, 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adedayo, admitted the defendant to bail of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
Adedayo ordered that the sureties must have evidence of tax payment.
She adjourned the case until July 2 for hearing.
