18 people across 5 countries made history have emerged as winners of the Connected Awards in its first-ever tech personality award in West Africa.
The headline winners were experts in the leadership category, Mike Ajala and Olaolu Ajose, as they both received over 5000 votes.
The award is aimed at giving a platform to technical experts and allowing the general public to decide who they see fit to be awarded.
Categories are based on individuals’ professions and years of experience and the selection was on merit with 497 individuals screened to gather the required winning quota.
In the data category, three Nigerians, Charles Ifem, Chisom Mbama, Oyesanmi Vincent Omoboyeje and Benin Republic’s Aurelle Adjahou had the winning requirement. In a category of over 20 design experts, Babajide Bashiru was the only one to gather votes from public supporters. The Product category was the most competitive with five Nigerians winning the award namely Ayomide Adeboye, Chinonso Nwosu, Oghobhen Stephanie Isenmila, Ogigirigi Tega Gabriel and Nifemi Ojo.
The Security category had three personalities for the award; Ghana’s Mumuni Mohammed, Nigeria’s Onuorah Mary and Senagal’s Prince Coumba Ndoffene Diouf. The winners in the Customer categories, Tolulope Abiodun and Uche Damilola Olaitan emerged as outstanding experts with a lot of street credibility, while Ivory produced the winner of the development category, Alex Wilfried Ouattara.
The founder, Qazeem Oladejo praised all participants and congratulated the winners and their supporters.
He highlighted that the award organizing team believe all tech experts should be given equal opportunity after screening and verifying their track records. Qazeem said their voting process which gives the general public deciding rights on who should receive the prestigious award.
He made emphasis on the brand’s global plan by having regional editions across the world.
“For a brand that has completed 5 editions within its first year of establishment, The Connected Awards seems to be on track to fulfil its global brand promises. Tech experts have provided solutions and innovations that are reshaping the world and the awarding team are providing a platform to appreciate them. The brand has covered over 40 countries having 78 winners with over 100,000 voters in this period. The team have been working round the clock as they plan on their next editions and deliver the best,” he said.
