Not less than 150 members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the Federal Capital Territory (NUJ-FCT), were on Thursday engaged in a ‘Walk for Health’ from the Berger junction at Utako District through Jabi District in Abuja.
The medical outreach was facilitated by the partnership between the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ-FCT Council and the Zeberced Group to promote health alertness among reporters.
The walk which had the President of the Union, Chris Isiguzo and the Managing Director of the Zeberced Group, Adil Kurt walking about 5 kilometers to the NUJ Utako through Jabi was to promote improved health, fitness and Mental alertness among Journalists.
The President of the Union described the health walk as a wealth package, as exercises of such nature promote healthy living.
He said “the NUJ commends the medical checks on members’ bodies to expose journalists round the clock to this kind of health engagement.
“Part of the packages of this engagement is of course the health walk which we had from Berger to the Council,” the President of the Union stated
He said, “You could see behind me medical outreaches to journalists of over 150 persons to routine medical checkups here at the Press Centre Utako.”
The Managing Director of Zeberced, Adil Kurt said ” This health walk is good for us because of the type of work journalists do. You work 24 hours, especially with the birth of new media.
“Sweat is good for us all, especially from the walk as it promotes good health, burning calories.
“Zeberced was concerned with the development of the country through her services, the health of the people was important as a healthy people can promote wealth distribution.”
