10 OAU students to benefit from Akin Ogunbiyi scholarship scheme

Ten indigent students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State have been offered full scholarship with monthly stipends by Dr Akin Ogunbiyi.
The philanthropist and a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, informed the University Vice-Chancellor Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, of his resolve to pick up the students’ bills during his visit to the university recently.

Akin Ogunbiyi also intimated the Vice-Chancellor who was represented by Professor Christopher Ajila, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration and the Registrar of the school, Mrs Magaret Omosule, that he would continue to prioritise anything that concerns the institution.

In his usual display of camaraderie and support for whatever favours humanity, Akin Ogunbiyi as well donated N500,000 to the university for procurement of computers and for research advancement. 
The developments followed his keynote address at Ife Agric Conference where he accentuated that to feed over 7.3 billion people today would be impossible without increased agricultural productivity and more investment in research.
Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede commended the former students’ leader, describing him as a “good alumnus, pride and worthy ambassador” of the prestigious institution.
He was given a pat on the back for his steady contributions to the growth of the university and continuous support for students of the varsity.
According to the PDP chief, his foundation would liaise with the school management to implement and sustain the scholarship.
