Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has pledged the government’s assistance for traders who suffered varying degrees of losses during the recent fire incident at the Gusau central market.
A statement on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, mentioned that Lawal spoke while visiting the market to assess the extent of the damage.
Assessing the damages caused by the fire, Governor Lawal vowed to help those affected by the tragic event. While condoling with the victims, the statement quoted the Governor as saying that the government would do everything possible to alleviate their suffering and assist them in recovery.
Lawal stated, “I would like to express my condolences to the market leadership and the family of the victim who passed away due to the recent fire incident.
Even before the unfortunate fire incident, I constituted a committee to conduct a thorough investigation on how the government can intervene to enhance and develop the markets across the state.
My government is committed to supporting the victims of the fire incident and will explore various ways to mitigate their loss.”
Responding on behalf of the victims, the market’s Chairman commended the government for its prompt response following the unfortunate incident.
