Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state has described the local government elections so going in the state as orderly and peaceful.
The Governor lauded the peaceful conduct of the local government elections today Saturday in Gusau, shortly after he casted his vote at 012 polling Unit Galadima ward in Gusau,the state capital.
Governor and his wife casted their votes peacefully, speaking shortly Governor Dauda lawal commended the peaceful process of the election, urged residents to remain peacefully in the state.
“So far so good, what I have seen when I came in everything was orderly and is still very orderly, I have cast my vote and my wife has cast her vote too, so we are good to go,” he stated.
Nigeria tribune gathered that there was low turnout of voters across the polling units visited in the state.
It was further gathered that in most of the local government areas visited people were seeing going about their business,there was no restriction of movement.
Speaking with Nigeria tribune at one of the polling Unit, Mallam faisal said he was not aware about the local government election exercise going in the state.
According to him,there was inadequate awareness and enlightenment of the electorates, ” the state independent electoral commission has not done anything with regards to informing the populace the election,may be it’s because there was no strong opposition,” he said.
