Five days to Saturday’s presidential election in Nigeria, a group of youths have moved their campaign trail to Lagos beach in Lekki to campaign for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof Yemi Osinbajo who are the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) respectively.
The youth, on the platform of “Buhari we-love campaign movement,” said they came to the beach in their hundreds in order to catch some fun and capture other fun seekers who besieged the Elegushi Beach in Lekki and canvass for their votes in favour of President Buhari and his running mate as well as other APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
The coordinator of the group and a member of the board, Messrs Ambrose Ezenweani and Smart Oluwole, respectively, told Journalists at the venue, that they had done neighbour to neighbour campaign, house to house, street to street and also involved in open rallies and all that and that this time around, they are at the beach to meet the fun seekers in their mood of enjoyment to tell them to ensure they go to poll on Saturday and other elections’ days to cast their votes and for Buhari and other APC candidates.
While noting that the group is made up of students in tertiary institutions, artisans, traders and professionals, they both said they were convinced that Buhari government has done something meaningful to make Nigeria working across strata and therefore deserves to go for second term for a better Nigeria.

They said they based their judgment on what they called outstanding performance of Buhari’s administration within what they called short period of four years in the area of the fight against corruption, transparency, rule of law, welfare, financial leakages reduction in public service, transportation, employment generation, security and improving economy as a whole.
“Buhari is gradually getting things fixed in the country,” the coordinator said. “Though, we have not there yet, we are on own way there. And giving him another four years to govern we take us as a country to an appreciable height in the comity of nations.”
When asked for their reactions about the use of youths by political gladiators in vote buying and thuggery during elections in the country, they said their group does not believe in vote buying nor thuggery but competency, performance and the readiness of candidates to serve the people and not self.
“So, no other person-young or old- should allow him\herself to be used as political thug as there has never been a time the political gladiators themselves engage any of their relatives in such ignoble act,” he said. “We want peaceful and credible elections and therefore people should just go out to vote and ensure their votes counted.”
