Provost, Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences, Sagamu , Professor Musili Fetuga has charged youths on positive use of their potentials.
She noted that youths irrespective of their family background should discover their potentials and make postive use of it .
Fetuga said this during the Prize-giving and award ceremony of the Yejide Girls Grammar School, Molete , Ibadan held at the school premises on Thursday.
Speaking on the topic “ Power of Youth & Female identity “, she noted that compared to the olden days where girl -child are not given formal education because of their gender , Adding that with enlightenement in the modern day , girl-child are now educated while their potentials are discovered .
She described the youthful period of a child as a ladder or template to plan the future adding that girl- child should not look down on themselves .
Professor Fetuga as well advised youths on positive use of the social media while she also advised youths on being dedicated to their education.
She said “I implore you to make positive use of the social media while I also advised you not to relent but strive hard to achieve success irrespective of your family background.
In her welcome address, the Senior school principal , Mrs Oyedoyin Alabi noted that the school has always being known for the best since its establishment.
According to the Principal of the senior school,the students of the school had participated in so many competitions during the session at both academics and sports and have always brought laurels back home.
Oyedoyin however appreciates the Yejide Old Girls Association , YOGA for their contributions to the school .
She said, “it is with great pleasure and sincere appreciation to God almighty that I stand today to welcome you all to the edition of 2022/2023 prize giving day of this school. I give God the glory for the support of the Yejide Old Girl’s Association, YOGA. Your love, care and kindness towards your alma mater cannot be emphasized. Thank you for being a great pillar in the progress recorded so far in the school. Your sponsorship and attendance today proof your love”she concluded.
Also speaking Chairperson of the event and National President, Yejide Old Girls’ Association , YOGA , Mrs Mojisola Giwa-Osagie , explained that the event is Organised to motivate students to work hard .
She advised the students of the school to work hard and should not forget their alma mater adding that the students should aswell follow the laid down foundation of the old students .
Osagie appreciate the teachers for teaching, monitoring and taking proper care of the students while she advised parents to have a proper monitoring of their children’s education .
Speaking at the event, Permanent Secretary, TESCOM Headquarter, Secretariat Ibadan, Mr Babajide advised the students of the school to shun examination malpractices.
He charged the students to work hard and keep their parents aspirations by facing their studies in school.
While Babajide also advised Teachers to discharge their duties diligently in a bid to get reward in the future.
