Youth leaders across Nigeria have commended the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr Abdullahi Mustapha, describing him as a shining example of a Nigerian youth making a positive impact in governance.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued by the Vice President of Pan-African Youth Union, Oladele Nihi, two years into Dr. Mustapha’s tenure as Director-General of the commission.

According to the youth leaders, Dr. Mustapha’s appointment marked a significant milestone in Nigeria’s pursuit of energy sustainability and development, citing his leadership qualities, professional experience and commitment to national development.

Speaking in the statement, the Vice President, West Africa, Pan-African Youth Union, Oladele John Nihi, said Dr. Mustapha’s performance aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s “Hope Agenda” for national transformation.

“Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha is a shining example of a Nigerian youth making a positive impact in governance, and we are thrilled to see his expertise being leveraged for the nation’s benefit at the Energy Commission of Nigeria,” Nihi said.

He added that the youth body passed a vote of confidence on the ECN Director-General and commended President Tinubu for what it described as a visionary decision in appointing him.

The statement noted that under Dr. Mustapha’s leadership, the Energy Commission of Nigeria has recorded notable progress in promoting energy sustainability, innovation and sectoral development. It said his commitment to reforms and youth inclusion has contributed significantly to advancing Nigeria’s energy sector.

The Pan-African Youth Union further praised Dr. Mustapha for empowering young Nigerians and supporting energy development initiatives within Nigeria and across the sub-region.

The group urged stakeholders to continue supporting the ECN leadership to sustain ongoing reforms and drive energy transformation in the country.

According to the youth leaders, Dr Mustapha’s leadership reflects the federal government’s commitment to youth empowerment and national development, expressing optimism that the Energy Commission of Nigeria will record further progress and innovation under his stewardship.
