Nigeria has moved to bare its fangs over the xenophobic attacks on its citizens in South Africa as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that was expected to head to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Africa, taking place in the country will no longer go.
Nigeria joins a few other African countries including Congo, Rwanda and Malawi that have also announced their boycott of the event scheduled for 4-6 September 2019 in Cape Town.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, confirmed this to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and the Vice President at the presidential villa, Abuja on Wednesday.

He also confirmed that Nigeria had recalled its High Commissioner in South Africa, AmbassadorKabiru Bala for consultations.
The move is in protest over the perceived lack of action by the South African government to act over the attacks.
But the Minister did not speak on the meeting of President Muhammadu Buhari and his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaposa planned for South Africa in October over the attacks will still take place.
President Buhari has announced on Tuesday that he is dispatching a special envoy to South Africa over the matter.
