Women tasked on self-reliance, personal development

Women have been charged to equip themselves for self reliance through vocational training and quality education.

This was the central charge of several speakers at the fifth anniversary of Adorable Women International, held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Leading the charge, member, Board of Trustees (BoT), Adorable Women International, Dr Olabisi Awosanya said women will better contribute to the society if they are imbued with requisite skills and knowledge.

She said women must also constantly think outside the box and be keen on standing their grounds to face odds against women in the society.

Awosanya particularly charged women to always support one another in the interest of the womenfolk and the advancement of the society.

The anniversary saw the organisation hand the sum of N50,000 each to 30 women as a form of empowerment.
Giving her remarks at the event, Founder, Adorable Women International, Mrs Zainab Akim-Yusuf said women must summon courage to face obstacles that life throws at them.

She added that women must be resolute and even give hope to other women going through one challenge or the other.

She assured that her organisation will not relent in its corporate social responsibility to the society through periodic empowerment and skills acquisition programme to better the lives of women, physically challenged, orphans, less privileged and widows in the society.

Akim-Yusuf, however, called on government to always support women especially widows and less privileged in the society through programmes and policies that will make life more comfortable for them.

The anniversary attended by several right advocates, women advocates and female entrepreneurs also featured presentation of gifts to less privileged, widows and women across the state.
