Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, returned to Abuja on Monday following a productive visit to Italy, where he strengthened bilateral cooperation with the Lombardy Regional Government.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, the Minister stated that key outcomes of his meeting with the President of the Lombardy Regional Government, Attilio Fontana, included an agreement to establish a vocational center in Abuja to provide crucial skill training for youth, as well as a partnership to modernize agriculture in the FCT.
He noted that the agreements reached would significantly boost the FCT’s economy and create employment opportunities.

“Our visit was very fruitful. We signed a memorandum of understanding with Lombardy to establish a vocational center in the FCT, where our youths will receive skill acquisition training. We are also working on introducing mechanized agriculture to create employment and improve our economy. I believe this visit was worthwhile, and I thank the Lombardy government for their cooperation,” he said.
The Minister emphasized that the trip aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and had the potential to attract foreign investors to the FCT.
“You know that under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President’s international engagements aim to foster relationships with other countries and enhance our economy. With what we have achieved, there is hope that investors will come into the country,” he added.
It may be recalled that the Nigerian Tribune previously reported on the FCT Minister’s meeting with the President of the Lombardy Regional Government, Attilio Fontana. During the meeting, Fontana pledged his government’s collaboration with the FCT Administration to strengthen vocational education by establishing a training center in Abuja and facilitating youth training programs in Lombardy.
