United States President, Donald Trump, has accused his political opponents of orchestrating a boycott against Tesla in response to Elon Musk’s daring work in charge of the new cost-cutting agency.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump suggested that the move is part of an effort by what he described as radical elements to undermine Musk and damage one of the world’s leading automakers.
He characterised the boycott attempt as a politically driven attack on Musk’s values and contributions.
He, however, said he plans to purchase a new Tesla vehicle as a public show of confidence in Musk, whom he praised for his efforts to support national progress.
He tweeted, “To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is “putting it on the line” in order to help our nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the world’s great automakers, and Elon’s “baby,” in order to attack and do harm to Elon and everything he stands for.
“They tried to do it to me at the 2024 Presidential Ballot Box, but how did that work out? In any event, I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American.
“Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work in order to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN???”
Tribune Online reports that Trump appointed Musk in November 2024 as the co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an agency aimed at overhauling federal bureaucracy and reducing wasteful spending.
Following the appointment, Musk has taken various actions to cut government spending and ensure greater accountability from government workers.
