REVEREND Samson Arojah Albert, a cleric and gospel musician, has announced his decision to launch a collection of over 1,000 hymns in one of the nation’s indigenous languages.
He aimed to further spread the gospel through music that truly resonates with the people.
At the recent launch of the six-volume set entitled “Arojah Hymns” in Lagos, the cleric explained that what sets this collection apart from traditional hymns is its originality; none of the songs bear any resemblance to existing hymns.
Albert explained that in addition to launching the six-volume series of Arojah Hymns—an endeavor he attributes to divine inspiration and a deep love for music—he also plans to establish an ultra-modern recording studio dedicated to the composition of hymns and the production of gospel music.
He stated that the studio is designed to support artists who wish to create authentic and spiritually uplifting hymns, ensuring that future generations can experience the richness of gospel music.
“My love for music is undeniable. My passion for hymns has led me to compose these songs. While many people focus on other genres, hymns remain my true calling. I do not imitate others; my music is unique and something that no one else has done before,” he said.
According to him, his journey into hymnal music and composition dates back to 2015, when he released his first 300 hymns, and making a public commitment to surpass 1,000 hymns within a decade.
He, therefore, expressed the delight that, with the launch, he had been able to fulfill that promise, and, at the same time, come up with a genre that resonates deeply with the people.
Reverend Albert believes that the ongoing decline in societal values has made it essential for preachers of the Word, particularly gospel musicians, to actively contribute to reversing this troubling trend.
“Music is universal, but what distinguishes gospel music is its message. When we compose, the message is key. My hymns are intended for all who seek spiritual upliftment and salvation.
“Many Christians are no longer following His teachings but rather their comfort. My advice to all believers is to remain faithful and focused, never losing sight of salvation, which is the ultimate goal,” he stated.
He also announced his plans to build an ultra-modern recording studio to further promote hymn composition and gospel music. The studio, according to him will serve as a hub for musicians dedicated to creating Christian music.
The aim of the studio is to support artists who want to produce authentic and spiritually uplifting hymns, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the richness of gospel music.
