Music artist,Iloyi Oluwole Adebayo, known by the stage name Indomix is a total package asfar as music is concerned. Not only could he produce his own music, he could also write them and sing them. While he is widely known as a sound engineer, his passion from the beginning was to write songs and sing.
In a recent interview, Indomix, who is a second child in a family of five revealed why his music journey took him into the heart of sound engineering, when frustration about making music became unbearable. He had been writing songs and singing from his secondary school days but could hardly find a good sound engineer to make it into good music.
“The inability to get a good producer and sound engineer to work on my music back then inspired me to go into production and sound engineering in order to help myself and others. Me being a songwriter is God’s gift, it has always been part of me. I started writing songs and singing back in the secondary school in the 90’s, miming songs from one school to another. I later realized that I could write and sing my songs myself but the only problem then was recording.
According to him, an uncle of his inspired him to go into music. Even though he wrote his songs, making them a reality was a problem because there was no fund to push it as recording was out of his reach. When his brother eventually helped by providing the fund, Indomix found out to his much chagrin there was a dearth of good sound engineers.
“In the late 90’s my brother raised money for my recording which gave me the opportunity to know a producer that taught me how to produce and learn fast as a sound engineer. As a sound engineer I fine-tone from percussion, instrument and vocalizing. After recording, I mix and master songs to make it sound good in the ears of the audience,” he said.
Indomix is an artist who does all genres of music around Afrobeats. One of the qualities that stands him out is his versatility.
“I do all genres around Afro music. It’s good to be versatile so the audience does not get tired of your sound,” he said.
