JIM ADIE
I am a professional spoken-word artist and writer. Therefore, my New Year resolutions are anchored on the goals I have planned for the business of industrialising the spoken-words and writing art. My other plans include a successful completion of my BSc and subsequently attaining a master ‘s degree in Architecture. I also have a business plan. I think, at the moment, I may venture into poultry and animal husbandry. I desire to stay bent on these plans and visions this year.

I want to improve in my academics. To this, I have to make sure that I get focused and determined. Firstly, I have to look at what I lacked that is draging me back and try to straighten it before I proceed. I would watch out for the kind of friends I move out with. Then, I would try to study after lectures so that I would not forget in case of impromptu tests.

New Year resolutions are decisions we hardly keep. People feel excited about it, including myself. This, therefore, prompts us into making decision for change, for better life and greater life. Experience has proven that we seldom keep to it. They are more like fallacy.

Since the reward of good work is more work, I intend to work harder academic, business and spiritual wise. Academic wise, I cannot afford to graduate with second class upper. I need just 0.3 to make first class. I plan to launch my salon this year. Spiritual wise, I want to know God more, love God more and know His will more so that I would not labour like a fool. I believe it is only God that can guide me into all truth. I desire to know God more so that I would not miss His blessings for me this year.
ADENEKAN ADERINSOLA
Funnily, I make New Year resolutions. But, I do not follow them. I try to, but at the end, I find out that I have done nothing. So this year, I told God that He should direct my steps in all that I do and that He should make me follow Him, even if I do not want to follow Him. This is all I ask for the year. I know it would be granted.

I do not wait for a New Year to do resolutions. I set daily, weekly, monthly and long-time goals, and strive to achieve them. You can set goals anytime, any day. You do not need to procrastinate. A lot of people loose time and miss out in opportunity just because they want to set a New Year resolution. If there is any good time to take action, it is now. We do not need to wait for a new year in order to make plans.

New Year Resolution is the act of having strong will to determine what to do and not to do in the welcoming year. As for me, I do not have any resolution than to change my financial status because I am still poor for now. What can a poor man resolute in a poor country like Nigeria?
LAYOLADEDAYO ALONGE
Resolutions are great. It is a good way to get a new year started. Achieving them is great too. I only have two resolutions for 2019. First, is to Love. Love is a great thing. It keeps whoever you want to have in your heart. I want to love everything, everyone, Nigeria, my environment. Second, is forgiveness. When you love you forgive—forgive Nigeria, forgive everyone and hope for a better year.

New Year resolutions are promises one makes to him or herself for a good change, for self-development. It could also be an encouragement to be a better individual. It could be viewed as a situation whereby you work on your mistakes of the previous year and try to meet up with the plans you could not meet up with the previous year. All these are done for one to become a better person. So, basically, New Year resolution is about self-development.
ENEJI STEPHEN
I no longer have yearly resolutions. I make my plans and what could be referred to as resolutions immediately I discovered I need them and follow through consistently, whether I am ready or not. As a psychologist and a lecturer in the realm of self-discovery and development, I have discovered that the best time to begin the journey of self-improvement is the moment you discover you need it. It does not have to be yearly.

New Year resolution helps me to reflect on what I was able to achieve the previous year. And, was my set goals accomplished? Well, I achieved a lot in 2018. Also, I was not able to achieve some set goals. This new year, I want to start afresh and revisit my what-to-do list and work towards making them a reality. Of course, I can only achieve this by the help of God. Inasmuch as I am planning with great actions, I need to run to God for strength to help me become victorious at the end of this year.

My New Year resolution is to make my life a purposeful one this year. One of such ways is to improve on my CGPA in school. First, I have pointed out ways to improve my study skills. I realised that I tend to understand a concept or topic more when I explain them to others. I have decided to hold tutorial classes for my mates who struggle with some courses. With this, I would be helping myself and others too. A good CGPA, together with connections and the Almighty’s Grace, could take one to places. This would give my life a purpose this year.

At the end of the year, I make deep reflections about how the year went, the successes and failures I had during the year. I think about things that I had and those I did not. It is basically about my actions and inactions from the beginning of the year till the end. And, I crave out ways I could make the year more successful. I take a look at how I have done things and how I could do things better. I plan and look at the resources that I have and how to make judicious use of them. I pray to the Lord for His plans for me and begin to put myself in a good place to achieve God’s plan for my life. My New Year resolution is really about setting goals and improving on those goals.
EKPEREAMAKA CHIDINMA
This year, I intend to trust God and get more personal with Him. That is on top of my list because I have discovered that things are more spiritual than physical. I also want to avoid the mistakes I made in a lot of areas last year. The basis of growth is being able to recognise your mistakes and learn from them. I want to reduce my circle. I suffered a number of emotional blackmails in the past year. Keeping my circle tight seems to be the only way to avoid dramas in this New Year.
CHUKWUMA EZEGBUGHA
This year, I want to be more deliberate about how I do the things I do. That cuts across every area of my life, including how I talk to God and yield to Him. Furthermore, I want to stay out of controversies. The just concluded year was very controversial for me. This year, I want to lead a more private life and stay out of trouble. I want to learn a new skill and take one day at a time. It will require a lot of discipline, but the events of last year have groomed me for it.
AYODELE BECKLY
New Year resolutions cOULD focus your mind towards where you want to be, who you want to become, and what you want to accomplish as the year nears its end. It helps you reflect on what is important to you, to move in a positive direction. I have always found it to be fun coming up with goals that would help improve myself and, in turn, those around me too.
