Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease that causes irritation and swelling of the tissues. Going through all these can lead to weight loss, fatigue, belly pain, diarrhoea and malnutrition.

This disease affects the end of the small intestine, the beginning of the large intestine and spreads to the deeper layers of the bowel. Crohn’s disease is very painful, hence, can lead to life-threatening issues.

Currently, no cure has emerged for Crohn’s disease, but it can be drastically reduced with therapies and can bring long-term healing.

Symptoms

Symptoms of Crohn’s disease usually surface gradually but might also be sudden; that is, you might not notice any prior signs.

  1. Fatigue.
  2. Cramping.
  3. Fever.
  4. Diarrhea.
  5. Weight loss.
  6. Anemia.
  7. Kidney stones.

Causes

There is no exact cause of Crohn’s disease but stress and an unhealthy diet can trigger it. In the course of its development, the factors discussed below play a role.

  1. Immune system

The bacteria in your gut microbiome can stimulate Crohn’s. Even when your immune system tries to fight any microorganisms or environmental factors, the atypical immune response would make it attack itself and the cells in the digestive tract.

  1. Genes

Even though it has not been established the major role genes play in Crohn’s disease, notwithstanding, they are associated and you can get the disease through it.

Treatment

There are various therapies one can embark on because there is no cure for Crohn’s yet. It is your doctor who would prescribe the right treatment for you so that you will be able to manage the disease well.

  1. Nutrition

Healthy nutrition can help you suppress the symptoms or treat the disease for a short time. Your healthcare provider will definitely recommend a nutritional diet for you and also conduct tests on you, ensuring you meet what you need.

  1.  Surgery

Surgery can be used to remove fistulas, blockages and intestinal perforations. This would reduce any complications.

  1.  Medications

Medicines that can help you suppress inflammation and calm your immune response are other ways to treat Crohn’s disease. Moreover, treating inflammation has a long-term positive effect.

Key Phrase: Crohn’s Disease.

Meta Description: Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease that causes irritation and swelling of the tissues. Healthy nutrition, medications and surgery can help to suppress it.
