The Coordinator of Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Obinna Ogwuegbu, has said the ongoing infrastructure development at Wassa district was driving the urban renewal initiative of the FCT Administration.
He disclosed this during the inspection tour of the Wassa affordable housing and resettlement sites, on behalf of the Minister of State for FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, recently.
Meeme Felicia, the Public Relations Officer of STDD, stated in a statement made available to pressmen in Abuja, that the coordinator was satisfied with the pace of work at those areas.
According to the statement, the inspection was to ascertain the progress of Work on Waasa Affordable Housing site being handled by Gilmor Engineering company and the Provision of engineering infrastructure to Wassa resettlement site.
The Coordinator conveyed the resolve of the minister, in stepping up her drive at improving the lives of the teeming inhabitants of the Satellite communities.
According to the statement, the successful completion of all the projects will be a great and giant leap in furtherance to the fulfilment of the FCTA’s mandate of building new satellite communities.
The statement quoted the minister of state as saying that Muhammad Buhari’s led government will keep doing its possible best at ensuring that diligent and result oriented contractors receive the government’s support in the execution of projects.
It further stated that the completion of various road projects at the Satellite towns will open up more Satellite towns and put an end to the hardship farmers and motorists experience while trying to convey their farm produce beyond the Satellite towns to other parts of the Territory.
