As political tensions continue to mount within the Oyo State House of Assembly over an alleged impeachment plot, Governor Seyi Makinde has broken his silence on the matter, acknowledging the speculation while reaffirming his focus on governance.
Speaking during the inauguration of key committees tasked with driving the state’s long-term tourism development and preparations for the International Tourism Summit 2026, the governor remarked that his administration still has “about one year and one month… if I am not impeached by then.”
Despite the political uncertainty, Makinde used the occasion to highlight his administration’s forward-looking agenda, unveiling plans for a 25-year tourism development roadmap aimed at attracting investment and positioning Oyo State as a globally competitive destination.
He stressed the importance of continuity, strong institutional frameworks, and strategic planning, noting that sustainable development must go beyond short-term political cycles.

Describing the initiative as a cornerstone of the state’s economic future, the governor maintained that his administration remains committed to building systems that inspire investor confidence and drive growth, regardless of ongoing political distractions.
His remarks, however, come amid increasing speculation within the Assembly, further thrusting the impeachment narrative into the spotlight even as the governor continues to push ahead with key legacy projects.
