A 49-year-old vagrant, Divine David, on Tuesday, appeared in a Karshi Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a Techno cell phone, worth N7,000.
The police charged the defendant, who resides in Nyanya, Abuja and claimed to be a businessman, with two counts of criminal trespass and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the complainant, Success Folorunsho, who lives in Jikwoyi Phase II, Abuja, reported the incident at the Karu Police Station, on June 18.

He said the complainant alleged that the defendant visited her shop located in Karu, pretending to buy baby items and stole her Techno phone, valued at N7,000.
The prosecutor informed the court that further police investigations revealed that the defendant was a habitual thief who has been arrested and prosecuted for a similar offence.
He said that the offence was contrary to the provisions of sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Anas Isah, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 bail, with one surety in like sum.
Isah adjourned the case until July 17 for hearing.
