The association of veteran journalists in Ekiti State has congratulated the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on his third anniversary at the helm of affairs, saying the state has witnessed more infrastructural and human capital development.
The veterans in a statement on Wednesday by the vice-chairman of the group, Prince Sola Adetule, however, advised the governor to devote the remaining twelve months of his administration for the welfare of the people and not abandon governance for the 2022 governorship poll.
According to the group, “We commend the administration for meaningful development in the areas of education, health, monthly payment of salaries, construction of roads to some towns, headquarters of the state water corporation, Civic Center and upgrading of College of Education, in lkere to a University.
“However, we want the governor to use the remaining one year for more meaningful development and not campaign for election.
“Moreso all interstates roads to Ekiti State are death traps such as Akure -Ado, ljebujesa -Ado, Kabba-Ado, Ikogosi-lgbara-odo, Igbaraodo-lkere, Ikere-llawe, and completion of Ado-lfaki-Otun roads, as well as all major township roads in Ado, is an eyesore.”
The veterans further appealed to the governor to offset all 2018 arrears of salaries, allowances, gratuities, and deductions of workers owed by the immediate past administration of Ayo Fayose.
