Famous American singer and entrepreneur Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, has been arrested in New York.
His arrest occurred on Monday night at a Manhattan hotel following an indictment by a grand jury.
Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for pursuing what he referred to as an “unjust prosecution.”
Agnifilo emphasized that Combs had been cooperative throughout the investigation and had even traveled to New York voluntarily, anticipating the charges.
In a statement, Agnifilo said, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Sean Combs is a music icon, a loving family man, a self-made entrepreneur, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire and working to uplift the Black community.”
He further added, “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has been cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York a week ago in anticipation of these charges. These are the acts of an innocent man, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Diddy is currently facing multiple sexual assault charges.
