The Kano State government has announced Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, as a replacement for the dethroned Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was forcefully taken out of the palace on Monday.
The State Secretary to the Government (SSG) Alhaji Usman Alhaji said: “I am going to read one of the resolutions emanating from the state executive council today and the subsequent recommendation by the Kingmakers, Kano Emirate and the approval of appointment by His Excellency, governor of Kano, on the new Emir of Kano.
“Following the resolution of the state executive at its sitting on Monday, 9th March 2020, with regards to the deposition of former Emir of Kano, in my capacity as the SSG, I have been directed by His Excellency, the executive governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

“By the power conferred on him by the provision of section 11, subsection 1 of the Kano Emirate Council Law 2019, he, therefore, announced the appointment of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the former Emir of Bichi Emirate, as the new Emir of Kano.
“He is the 15th Emir of Fulanis’ Kano Emirate. This followed the recommendation received from Kano kingmakers to the state governor, Dr. Ganduje and as you can see our royal fathers, the kingmakers of Kano Emirate were here seated with us.”
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of former Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, was not disclosed but a reliable source who preferred anonymity said Malam Sanusi II has been banished to Nasarawa State.
