Univasa, an indigenous ride-hailing company in Nigeria has launched Verify and Pay, an innovative digital payment system to reshape the transport system in Nigeria.
Through the new plan, passengers hailing a cab can scan the barcode on the taxi to confirm the details of the driver and the vehicle, input their destination to check and negotiate fares and select preferred payment options.
The platform launched in Lagos on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Lagos State Taxi Driver and Cab Operators Association office with high ranking members of the transport Unions in attendance.
The CEO of Univasa, Ben Adeniyi hinted that the verify and pay was born out of the need to enable service providers and consumer an easy assess to moving around.
He claimed Univasa is always providing innovative services as the Yelm of its operations and will continue to hold it as top priority.
He furthermore explained that the Verify and Pay is a new face to transportation in Nigeria that will cut across the states, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt before the end of 2022.
Univasa also rolled out its Drive to Own empowerment programme which allows drivers on the Univasa ride hailing app to pick a Univasa car as their vehicle of choice to work a d make daily remittances.

“It is gladdening that only six months after that memorable event, the Minister of Interior is back in Enugu to perform another significant and symbolic ceremony. This time, the Minister accompanied by the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration, is in the Coal City to unveil the enhanced E-Passport and Commission the Passport Production Centre for the South East situated in Enugu within this Complex.”
Speaking also, the Acting Comptroller General enthused that the people of the South East can now rejoice, pointing out that it was not that his Service oblivious of the suffering of the people but that time and resources had not permitted earlier action.
He commended Gov Ugwuanyi for his support and assistance to the State Command that had culminated in the realization of the project.
Responding, Aregbesola showered encomium on Ugwuanyi who he described as his good friend and one who has been of immense assistance to the Immigration Service in Enugu state.
The minister said not only does South East have a passport production centre within reach but also that the people now have access to an array of choices of the enhanced E-Passport that will aid their globe-trotting disposition.
