
A Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Thursday remanded Alfa Sakariyau Abdulrofiu, Ibrahim Ayuba and Yusuf Aliu, who were accused of allegedly killing a 400 level student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) in prison custody.
The dismembered body of the student, Oluwafemi Shonibare, who was declared missing by his friends was discovered near the residence of one of the suspects by Police.
The accused were arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on murder and conspiracy.
According to the charge sheet by the Police, Abdulrofiu and his accomplices; Kareem and Ibrahim, conspired to murder Shonibare at Oke Baale area of Osogbo on June 26, 2017.
The accused had earlier made confessional statement to the police that they wanted to use the deceased for money rituals before they were apprehended by security agency.
According to the charge sheet, ”they did unlawfully kill one Timilehin Oluwafemi Sonibare by hitting him with a pestle on his head;Â improperly and indecently interfered with a dead human body by cutting off the head, hands and other parts of the deceased.
Aruna explained that the offence contravened Section 324, Section 319 (1) and Section 242 (1) (b) of the criminal code cap 34 vol 11 laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
But, the accused had no legal representation, hence, their pleas were not taken due to the seriousness of their offence and Magistrate Mrs Oloyaade ordered that the accused should be remanded in Ilesha Prison and adjourned the case to September 25, 2017 for mention.
