
THE Chairman, South East Governors Forum, Engr David Nweze Umahi, will in next week lead governors of the South-east and other stakeholders of the zone to the 2017 National Conference of the Igbo Christian Restoration Assembly (ICRA), a conference, organised by all Christians of the zone.
The conference Nigeria Tribune gathered will besides prayers for the zone feature special session for discussions on the future of Igbo land.
The Secretary of Local Organising Committee of ICRA, Prof Vincent Anigbogu, who disclosed this in a pre-event briefing of journalists confirmed that the governors of the south-east zone would be at the three-day event to pray and commit the zone to God, and also to quell youth restiveness in the area among other things.
He said prominent Igbo sons and daughters including former ministers of Power and education, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Prof Ben Osisioma, Rev William Okoye and Mr. Sam Ohuabunwa will speak at the event.
“We are also expecting the presence of traditional rulers, prominent church leaders across all the denominations, among other stakeholders,” he stated.
Anigbogu stated that the conference was to stem the tide of corruption, armed robbery, kidnapping, political uncertainty, youth uprising, cultism and drug addiction that have infested the Igbo nation.
“The conference will brainstorm on the issue of reviving the church so that the church can begin to have impact in our communities but will mainly focus on the leadership Igbos need in this season, necessity for value reorientation, agitation for restructuring of the region, empowering our people financially through entrepreneurship and maintaining a spiritually healthy Igbo Christian community through effective conflict resolution,” he said.
Contributing, the General Overseer of the Charismatic Renewal Ministry, who doubles as the National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, South East, Pastor Cosmas Ilechukwu, explained that ICRA is made up of group of people who are interested in the restoration of God’s glory in Igbo land.
According to him, the conference will bring about true movement of God in Igbo land, offer opportunity to Igbo Christians to open themselves to God to re-engineer their character and reflect God’s glory in Igbo culture.
He maintained that the core aim of the assembly was to maintain the general wellbeing of the Igbo people.
In their separate remarks, the General Overseer, All Christians Fellowship Mission, Abuja, Rev William Okoye, and Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, a guest speaker, noted that many challenges facing Igbo nation can only be addressed through God’s intervention.
