UK-based philanthropist feeds 2,000, honours 10 for community service

AN indigene of Kwara State residing in the United Kingdom, Malam Abdullateef Bibire, has fed over 2,000 people as part of activities marking the Ramadan fasting period.

In addition, he recognised 10 individuals who have distinguished themselves through community service with awards and cash gifts.

Speaking at the event, Bibire explained that the initiative aimed to honour individuals whose contributions to education, religion, security, and other sectors had gone unrecognised.

“This kind of neglect can discourage patriotism and community development. This is the gap we intended to bridge with the limited resources at our disposal,” he stated.

Bibire, who announced that each of the 10 honorees received a cash gift of N50,000, also revealed that the awards would become an annual event.

Earlier, Ramadan packages were distributed to over 3,000 people, containing food items such as beans and garri. Approximately 2,000 people benefited from the iftar (breaking of fast) held at Government Day Secondary School (GDSS), Oke-Adu in Ilorin.

Clerics at the event urged parents to prioritise the proper upbringing of their children and praised the organiser, describing him as an exemplary figure in the community.
