The National Universities Commission (NUC), has approved the establishment of faculty of Dental sciences in Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution Professor Sulaiman Lawal Bilbis, revealed this when he led members of the school management who paid a courtesy visit to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at Government House, Sokoto.
Professor Bilbis explained that following the approval obtained the institution would commence Bachelor of Dental surgery as from next academic session 2019/2020.

Professor Bilbis further said that the University is awaiting approval to run mass communication, Nutrition, Physiotherapy and Opthalmology programmes.
He thanked Sokoto State Government for its continuous assistance to the institution. He assured that the authorities of the University would soon commence the gradual fencing of the institution’s land area.
While responding Sokoto State governor, Rt hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal thanked the management team for the visit and assured them of continuous collaboration with the state government.
The Governor commended the peaceful disposition of the University and hope the tempo would be sustained.
He congratulated the Vice-Chancellor and his deputies on their emergence and wish them a successful tenure in office.
