LEADER of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief O’tega Emerhor, has welcomed the new defector, former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to the party, saying the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was in the throes of death.
The 2015 APC governorship candidate made the declaration on Wednesday in a statement made available to TribuneOnline in Warri, Delta State.
He stated that Uduaghan was not just a paramount leader of the PDP, but the soul and body of the party that gave it life in its formidable days.
The very elated Emerhor said the exit of Uduaghan, therefore, meant that Delta PDP has become lifeless and in the throes of a degenerative death.
Emerhor, while welcoming Uduaghan to the APC fold, reminded incumbent Gov Ifeanyi Okowa of the quit notice he had, last year, issued on him to start packing out of the Government House, Asaba as the days of PDP’s misrule in Delta was numbered.
According to him, “I am particularly excited about Uduaghan’s joining our party because the value he brings is unquantifiable!
“He is a man that has conquered the rough and rugged political terrain of Delta, again and again, winning and ruling the state twice for a total of eight years.

“He comes with political hands-on experience spanning over 16 years. He knows Delta and Deltans know him.
“What more, he comes as ‘John the Baptist,’ forerunning ahead of a multitude of his time-tested followers and, indeed, political associates!
“No deadlier or more fatal die has ever been cast against PDP in Delta State.”
Emerhor stressed that “For Delta APC, Gov Uduaghan’s coming couldn’t have been better timed. His experience and stature will help to rally the party in its current drive for unity.
“The strength he comes with will further validate our hope. On behalf of the mainstream and larger APC family in Delta State, I heartily welcome Gov Uduaghan into the Delta APC fold and assure him of our full cooperation and his entitlement to the full privileges and rights due to every member and party leaders.”
Chief Emerhor urged Deltans to fasten their seat belts as the journey from perdition to liberation in 2019 has begun in earnest.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary (CPC) of Governor Okowa, Mr Charles Aniagwu, while on a live television chat on Wednesday evening, has said that the APC has no chance in the coming elections given the magnitude of projects already widely executed by the state government under the current Okowa administration.
It will be recalled that Dr Uduaghan officially defected from the PDP to the APC Tuesday at the caucus meeting all President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock.
