A group of road transporters in Lagelu local government area of Oyo State have called on the governor Of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Honourable Debo Ogundoyin to call to order a member of state House of Assembly representing Lagelu State constituency, Honourable Akintunde Olajide popularly known as AKT to stop an alleged moving around of motor parks to intimidate drivers who go about their daily duties.
The group in a statement signed by their spokesperson, Bayo Kareem, a copy of which was made available to the Tribune Online on Sunday alleged that Olajide moves around motor parks in company of some hoodlums to intimidate drivers by telling them that he is now the political leader in the local government and that they must yield to whatever instructions he gives.
“To the best of our understanding, the lawmaker in question, Akintunde Olajide was voted for by the people of the constituency to represent them and make laws that would be beneficial to his immediate constituency and the state as a whole and not to be seen going about engaging in acts contrary to his mandate by portraying himself as a lawbreaker.
“The most sad part of the story is the fact that he is doing this in collaboration with a former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi.
“Even if Olajide wants to engage road transporters in the local government in productive venture, not at this time when the union is under proscription in the state.
“It is on the light of this, that we call on the governor of the state, Mr Seyi Makinde and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Honourable Debo Ogundoyin, to call Olajide to order as his actions are capable of causing breach of public peace.” The statement read.
