National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday expressed appreciation to God for bringing him back to Nigeria safely, noting that it is only God that gives and can take life.
Tinubu said this while speaking at the Lagos State House in Marina, at a welcome home gathering organised by the state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Tinubu returned to the country from London on the evening of Friday, October 8. While in London, he underwent surgery on his right knee.
Speaking at the gathering attended by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila who led other Reps members, the state deputy governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat and his wife; Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa and other members of the House, wife of the governor, Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, former deputy governor, Mrs Idiat Adebule, Senator Olamilekan Solomon, among others, Tinubu, said he was full of gratitude to God, even as he prayed God to bless all that came to welcome him.
“I am a little emotional, but I am happy to be back home. God is the Giver of life and He alone can take it. It is a day of joy for me. We are here thanking God Almighty. God will bless all of you and grant your desires. I can’t say more than this today,” Tinubu said.
Earlier, Sanwo-Olu, who was also highly elated, thanked God for bringing back Tinubu.

Also speaking, Gbajabiamila added that the northern caucus of the House of Representatives visit to Tinubu in London was a strong statement, saying the southern caucus had also planned to make a similar visit only to learn of his arrival on Friday.
“Where you are going, it is destined, we are ready in the National Assembly. There are men and there are women,” he said.
“The history of Nigeria cannot be written politically without you occupying three-quarters of the pages,” he added.
Others present at the gathering were members of the State Executive, the 57 council chairmen, Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) members, among others.
