Three in Court for ‘stealing blenders, pumping machine’ in Jigawa

Three Nigerian men, Kabiru Ganiyu, Anthony Shedrack, and Wasiu appeared before a Magistrate’s Court in Dutse, Jigawa State, on Monday for allegedly stealing three blenders and a pumping machine.

The defendants were charged with criminal conspiracy, trespass, housebreaking, and theft.

Prosecution counsel Babajide Olanipekun stated that the complainant, Omobola Jegede of Dutse Alhaji, reported the incident to the Area Command in Kubwa, Abuja, on March 5.

Olanipekun added that the defendants allegedly conspired to break into the complainant’s residence and stole a submersible pumping machine, three blenders, electrical wires, cables, and sockets. Other stolen items included metal buckets, trays, a grinding machine stand, and pipes, with a total estimated value of N800,000.

According to NAN, the charges violate sections 97, 348, 346, and 287 of the Penal Code. The defendants pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Evelyn Dara granted each defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, requiring one surety per defendant who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction. The case was adjourned until May 5 for further hearing.
