Three female suicide bombers died on Wednesday, as they were spotted by vigilante security personnel vehemently trying to come in through the south east of Maiduguri through Molai a sprawling farming community which has been under siege several times.
The three suicide bombers, suspected to have been conveyed by motorcycle and dropped at a distance to Mamanti village, Jere local government area, close to the General Hospital Molai and the mega filling station not very far from the location.
While the trio were trying to locate their respective targets for destruction, they were sighted and intercepted by vigilant security operatives who went after them and ended their games.
In the process, they hurriedly detonated the improvised explosive devices IED strapped to their bodies, killing themselves since that is always the instructions if they fail to get to their targets detailed to them from Sambisa.
Police Public Relations officer Victor Isuku told newsmen that bomb squad teams were promptly drafted to the scene to sanitize the area, and restore normalcy.
But that did not guarantee movement of cars between Maiduguri and Biu early enough today as several cars and buses were seen waiting for desperate military escorts to cross through the Sambisa and Alageno forest through Damboa to Biu Hawul and Shafa.
They waited from 6:30am on Wednesday morning till about 10.30am when the military support finally came to ferry them to the south of Borno state.
Boko Haram have attacked military and civilian convoys escorting logistics to and from Maiduguri several times within the last two years of the insurgency war.
