The Ministry of Finance is that which needs not be politicised because it cuts across all the administrations in Nigeria.
We need a minister who will manage our economy very well and also to give the president the best advice on how to reduce the cost of governance and how to generate more money for the nation. We all know that good governance demands accountability and transparency.
It is not necessary that finance minister should be a politician. It can be a university lecturer who is very brilliant who can manage the Nigerian economy.
Nigeria is one of the great nations in the world but its economy is in shambles.
If we take a look at the finance ministries of other countries, we will discover that the governments are giving this sensitive portfolio to the best brains to manage it.
Our leaders have continued to borrow money abroad without thinking of how to pay the debt. The economic saboteurs have ruined the economy of this nation.
Nigeria is one of the oil producing countries in the whole world. Many Nigerians are still complaining bitterly following the sudden removal of fuel subsidy. This is the right time for the Federal Government to appoint a Professor of Economics as finance minister. The office of finance minister should be handled by an economic expert. The Federal Government is expected to make a wide consultation before appointing its finance minister.
