A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, has allegedly beaten a young Almajjiri boy to death. This incident, which led to tension in the area, caused policemen to barricade the area to prevent residents from attacking the corps member.
The incident, according to a source occurred on Thursday evening, when the boy was said to have run with others into the corps members’ lodge to collect fruits from the residents, who had developed the gesture of giving out fruits to children in the area.
But in his haste to get his own share of the fruits before others, the boy was said to have collided with the corps member. According to the source, “this provoked him (corps member) and caused him to beat the boy, from which he collapsed and died in the process.”
