Tackling youth unemployment in Nigeria

Nigeria has been a country where our youth finish from school and are proud to call themselves graduates. But we found them becoming almost useless to the country due to the scarcity of jobs in Nigeria.

Nigerian youths have been suffering due to extreme economic hardship like increase in dollar rate resulting in expensive food, transportation and so on. Sadly, there is no respite coming from the government.

These youth have become internet fraudsters, and they have inflicted pain and agony on many Nigerians.

Likewise, some youth have resorted to depending on handouts as the only way to survive.

Most parents because of the crisis that is going have come up with the saying: “ati eni to kawe, ati eni ti o kawe, owo le n jo n wa,” meaning both the educated and uneducated are looking for money. This has prompted majority of parents not to further their children education.

I want to make a passionate appeal to the government and those in charge of youth empowerment to come together to work on creating more jobs for the youth, by ensuring that those companies that once exited Nigeria return, among other measures. Thus, the youth of Nigeria will have jobs to hold on to, and will bring a reduction in the number of young Nigerian fraudsters on the internet.
