It was learnt that the survivors were rushed to Birnin Gwari General Hospital where they were receiving medical attention as of the time of this report.
The attack by the armed herdsmen occurred in Dangaji village and Ungwan Gajere on Friday night and lasted till the early hours of Saturday morning.
A source told Sunday Tribune that the herdsmen razed the homes of the villagers, while some of the inhabitants flew to safer communities.
“It is unfortunate that since Friday night, we encountered the attack of herdsmen in the village of Dangaji. After they penetrated the village ,they came into other places and burnt houses down,” the source said.
“Early this morning (Saturday), they went to another village, Kutemechi, in Unguwan Gajere, the herdsmen killed about nine men,” he said.
According to him, “after they burnt the villagers’ houses, the last victim was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately he died on the way to the hospital.”
“Right now, all the villagers have fled to other communities where they can find shelter,” the source added.
It was also gathered that a week ago, about three people were reportedly kidnapped in Dangaji village.
The eyewitness said: “It was after the incident that the herdsmen now attacked the village and killed the 10 people. Many people have been taken to the general hospital in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.”
He said the herdsmen had fled before military reinforcement could get to the affected areas.
Police Command PPRO, Muktar Husseini, confirmed to Sunday Tribune that only five peeople were killed.
