The faction, while reacting to the judgement, said it came to it as a surprise and lamented that it had put the judiciary in a compromised position.
Speaking on behalf of the faction in a telephone interview, its deputy chairman, Mr Olasunkanmi Ogunbiyi, said “The judgement of today came as a surprise,” saying, “I see the judgment as being against the common man.”
Ogunbiyi lamented that “no judiciary in Nigeria again. It is cash and carry. There was a high court judgement in Lagos that stopped the convention in Port Harcourt. Ali Modu sheriff said he received a judgement from Lagos and said the convention would no longer hold.
“After he left, some PDP members came together and installed a caretaker committee. There’s no caretaker in PDP Constitution. I see the judgement as against the common man. It is embarrassing that this kind of judgements in Nigeria. It has made us a laughing stock in the comity of nations.”
