The six South-West governors are now in a closed-door meeting at Lagos House, Ikeja, to discuss the growth and development of the region.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State was the first to arrive at the venue, followed by his Ondo counterpart, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun).
The South-West Governors Forum meeting is being hosted by its Chairman and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The closed-door meeting, which started at 12:15 pm after the arrival of all the governors, will focus on common interests and key regional issues, including agriculture, food security, economic collaboration, security, and the South-West Development Commission.
It would be recalled that the Forum, on 10th June 2024, had a similar meeting in Lagos where Governor Sanwo-Olu was unanimously appointed as its Chairman.
Since its last meeting, the forum under the leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu has prioritised policies aimed at strengthening regional development in the South-West zone.
Details later.
