Sit-at-home: Imo streets deserted over Nnamdi Kanu’s trial

Major streets in Imo State were deserted on Thursday following the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in solidarity with its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The situation also paralysed the entire government, business, social and commercial activities in Owerri, the state capital.

Streets and roads in the three zones of Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri linking communities, villages, towns such as the Okigwe Road, Wethedral, Mbaise Road, Port Harcourt, Onitsha expressway, as well as Orlu and Abs Roads were deserted in compliance with the order.

Our correspondent noted that some of the streets in the city were converted to football pitches.

All markets, shops, business centres, motor parks, filling stations, hotels, schools and financial institutions in the city were closed down.
