She drinks herself to stupour, fights me with dangerous objects —Man

The Idi-Ape Grade C Customary Court, Ibadan North East, Oyo State has dissolved the nine-year-old  union between Fatai Abass and his wife, Olabisi  Abass.

Fatai, who dragged Olabisi to court, stated that they were not compatible and that she has failed to give him rest of mind.

According to the plaintiff, the defendant was in the habit of fighting him with dangerous weapons and tears his clothes during the process. He added that she keep late nights, drinks and embarrasses him at will during their stinct together.

Fatai thus prayed the court to dissolve their marriage.

“My lord, my wife and I are not compatible and I am fed up with our marriage.  My wife has ceased to give me peace of mind. She  fights me with dangerous weapons and  tears my clothes when we have misunderstanding.

“She is in the habit of  keeping late nights. She always drinks herself to stupour  and always threatens to kill. I have recordings on my phone  as evidence.

“We fought and she left home one and a half months ago.  She embarrasses me anytime our paths cross. I have reported her to her parents but she has refused to change.

“My lord, I am not ready to die now, please separate us,” he pleaded.

Olabisi dissented to divorce.

“My lord, I don’t want divorce because of my children,” the defendant told the court.

“My husband is useless and never cares for  me and the children. I pay the house rent and  our children’s  school fees.

“He’s a brute. He  fights and beats me blue-black always. He showed me no care and gave me no attention throughout this period. I packed out of his house because our home was devoid of peace.

“ All he does is to create problems for me and the children. My lord,  the plaintiff lied: I  don’t drink or keep late nights.

Having listened to the claim of both parties, the court president, Mr Moses Oyekanmi, dissolved their marriage and awarded custody of their children to the defendant.
